4 Stage Replacement Filter Set

Four filters, in the order they sit on the line. This is the replacement set for a 4-stage system.

• A sediment filter first, to catch the grit. Rust, sand, silt.
• Your fluoride choice second: bone char and KDF55, or GAC and KDF.
• Ultra-D nanofiltration third.
• A carbon filter last, for chlorine, taste and odor. This is the one the scale inhibitor changes.

Fluoride reduction, or not

Both versions are the same four filters. The only thing that changes is the second one. Bone char and KDF55 if you want fluoride reduction, GAC and KDF if you don’t. It’s the same price either way, so pick what your water calls for.

Adding a scale inhibitor

The scale-inhibitor option swaps the last filter. Instead of the plain carbon cartridge you get the same filter with a polyphosphate scale inhibitor built into it, and the set costs $10 more.

Here’s what that actually does. Hard water leaves crusty white buildup on fixtures and inside equipment, and the inhibitor keeps it from forming. It doesn’t soften your water. The calcium and magnesium are still in there. They just stop sticking to things.

If you run a Kangen or Enagic ionizer, that’s the version we’d point you toward. Hardness plates onto the electrodes inside those machines, and the less that gets there, the less time you spend descaling.

That filter is certified to NSF/ANSI 42 for chlorine, taste and odor, which covers the carbon side of it. It’s rated for 6 months or 2,000 gallons, and it goes on a cold water line only.

3/8″ or 1/4″

The last filter comes with either a 3/8″ or a 1/4″ quick-connect fitting, and those are two different parts. Kangen and Enagic machines use the 3/8″. If you’re not sure which one you have, call us at (718) 534-6985 and we’ll sort it out before you order.
